Title: "box" behind the glove box

Mounted up high behind the glove box is an electronic box.  What is this for?  Electronic spark?

I am going to take a guess because of your screen name that you are talking about an 83 year truck. The box I am guessing you are talking about is the computer that controls the distributor.

Yep, it is the ESC box. Electronic Spark Control
