Hey everyone,
i know its been awhile since i last posted some pics but tonight i got some time to myself and after alot of cleaning and i do mean ALOT of cleaning i got some paint finally on my front cradle and got the tranny crossmember painted.I`m letting the cradle sit right now as i applied 2 heavy coats and it takes awhile to let it sit and dry.In 1 of the pics you`ll see i even went as far as doing the entire inside of the cradle and i took a inspection mirror to make sure i got everything covered.Tomorrow i`ll tackle on getting the top done and possibly start on the control arms.I got the original bushings removed and got the energy suspension bushings installed,.I was at it for over 10 hours cleaning up everything and used wire wheel brushes on a drill a toohbrush and lacquer thinner/ heavy degreaser cleaner to cut all the grease and grime off of everything.I tell ya i couldnt move my hands i couldnt believe the grime that was on all these parts, but i guess since there almost 30 years old i shouldnt complain.

Here are some updated pics of the progress i  got done tonight

notice how nice and shiny it is inside. And i will say this all this was done with a 2 1/2 bristle brush and a 1/2 inch detail brush where i couldnt get to at with the bristle brush.

thanks
pat

Thanks,
the spindles actually sat on my shelf for like 2 or 3 years till recently i pulled them down to clean them up.I bought them off of a fellow member here that pulled them off for his air ride setup and went back to a stock setup so i couldnt resist to buy them. There 2 1/2 inches in a drop and the coils are 2 inches in drop as well. Now for the rotors and calipers, i may go with a set of cross drilled rotorsand a new set of calipers since mine are rusted pretty badly and need rebuilding, i will probably get new ones and paint them red and install them with new braided lines i got,Should  be done pretty soon i hope :)

thanks
pat

p.s. the control arms are actually my stock 80 ones i just degreaded and wire wheeled them and put a couple of coats of primer on them and used about 3-4 costs of semi gloss paint on them. Not to bad for spray cans. UPDATE:  i just bolted on the front shock bolts on the frame, got new hardware, bolted the shocks on got the new idler arm support all painted and installed got my old tie rods off my center link, gonna be cleaning up that tonight and painting it and possibly bolting it on this week, just picked up a front factory sway bar for cheap money, gonna get that n clean it up and paint it cherry red and install it , so the front end is comming together nicely, be nice to finally get the front end off of jackstands since i painted the frame  around christmas of 2006 and finally have a roller.
thanks

Yeah, the cross drilled rotors and new braided lines would give it a nice touch.

I'm not a big fan of cross drilled rotors, they tend to crack between the holes under hard, high speed braking. Diamond cut rotors are considerably better, IMO..the cuts dont go all the way through, so you keep the strength, but they allow a space for gasses to escape. Slotted rotors are ok, but CAN still crack. I had cross drilled rotors on my maxima for awhile, but I cracked both of the front rotors, replaced them with another set, cracked the passenger side of that set within a couple weeks, switched to diamond cut rotors and haven't had a problem..still an improvment in both the looks and function department over stock.

I got the rotors for my maxima on ebay, JC whitney has them for these trucks. My maxima has decent 4 wheel disk brakes to start with, so I used stock size rotors and used the stock calipers.

Diamond cut rotors:

I'm not a JC Whitney fan, they filed Bankruptcy back in the late 70's and "stiffed" my father for about $400.00 worth of undeliverable merchandise, I have not bought a single item since and nor will I in the future.

used to carry them, you might be able to find them at jegs or summit, I haven't looked because I really don't think I need them.

Well i took the plunge over to summitracing.com and bought these rotors pic here in the link.I dropped the front end this evening to line the spindle with one of the roller wheels and man its not as low as these bagged trucks but for a truck and a 1st time i ever put a lowering kit on it sits pretty low.Once i get the truck back on the ground for good on all 4s i`ll take a pic.I am gonna go to my local parts store tomorrow and get the calipers and pads and hardware to bolt them on when the rotors arrive.Today i got the center link and the inner n outer tie rods bolted up, got the grease fittings on torqued the nuts and installed the cotter pins.I bought new dust shields and gonna either get em powdercoated or paint them , not sure yet.But i am making alot of progress on this and my pile of parts on my shelf shrunk alot so thats a good sign.
thanks
