86' C10 intermittent starting issue
« on: October 09, 2018, 01:04:46 PM »
So I have an 86' C10 that has had a 350 installed in place of the original V6.  When I got it it had starting issues so I replaced the entire distributor and everything was running great. So this weekend I ran around and picked up some tile and drove it home and parked it, the next day I went to start it and it just cranked but wouldn't fire.  It was getting fuel so I assumed it was a spark issue so I looked for any loose wires and checked the distributor cap and everything looked fine so I let it sit until I could get some help. The next day I wanted to check for spark and pulled a plug wire off and told my wife to crank it and it fired right up, could I have moved a wire somewhere that was loose or grounding out causing it to not fire?  What wires should I check to look for any issues?

Remove the distributor cap, flip it over and check for condensation.

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!
