Title: 87 Chevy r10 suburban oil sensors
Post by: Juniorfan on September 26, 2018, 11:35:34 AM
I'm finishing an engine rebuild on an 87 Chevy r10 suburban.  There is an oil pressure sending unit on the intake by the distributor.  There is another sensor on the oil filter housing where the oil cooler lines go into.  I'm needing to know what this sensor is and where it's wire feeds to.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm ready to final tune it and need to know if this will hinder the process or not.  Thank you very much in advance.

One is for the gauge and the other is the oil pressure sender for the TBI fuel pump circuit.

X2

On TBI engines, the OPS adjacent to the distributor is a redundant switch to power the fuel pump in the event of fuel pump relay failure.  The sensor located adjacent to the oil filter controls the instrument panel oil pressure gauge.
