Title: Question and an introduction

Hello all new to the site, fell in love with these trucks around 8 years ago when my father bought an 81 Cheyenne (the year before i bought my license so I've been pining for one of my own ever since lol)and just figured I'd say hi before i got down to picking your brains. hahaha. Just wondering, I've been doing a bit of reading and have seen that as long as you have all the gear you can convert a 2wd to 4wd relatively easily with these trucks. My question is does it matter weather or not the frame you use matches the running gear, as in could you use a 2wd 1/2ton frame and 3/4ton 4wd running gear?  The reason I ask is because I've been looking for a good 4wd for a few years now with no luck so have made the decision to build one on my own lol, and I've got a line on an '84 4wd 3/4ton with a bad frame for parts and an '86 2wd frame to get me started  lol. Not really too concerned about the body yet i figure between the two parts trucks and some aftermarket panels I should be all good. So any input or tips anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!   ;D

It would be a lot easier to find a used 4x4 frame. Where do you live? You should be able to find a parts truck cheap enough. Try looking on craigslist.

This question sure gets asked alot.  There must be a ton of people out there wanting to torture themselves.  It would be cheaper and easier to just find a local dominatrix. :P

to go with what they said, buy a 4x4 farm truck trash the cab and bed if needed scrap it. do a resto and the frame and all the little lines buy a body lift or hammer your 4x2 cab since it wont fit over the transfer case unless you mod something and there you go. also the 4x2 and 4x4 frames are pretty much the same just would be allot easier to do it that way

Like Vile said, check out craigslist. In Mass you can find 3/4 ton 4x4 parts trucks in the $500 range just about every day on CL.
