83 c10 re-innovated Pro Touring
« on: December 21, 2007, 12:54:39 AM »
Hey guys, ive been mosieing around here and after a while decided i should show off my project,
I just turned 18 and spend every dime i make on this truck, and have learned alot by myself just by doing work on it, like taking time with body work, building and 350, rebuilding a munci m20 and soon to have a ford 9" that i got for free and some other goodies, and this project keeps me in line which i think is pretty good

This is how i got the truck (didnt have a door though)

Rockers and cab corners were bad, so i replaced them, that was the hardest body work

then i built my first v8 by myself (i build racing dirtbike engines kinda as a side job)

Vortec heads were alot of work, i had access to a machine shop for a week so with help from my brother he taught me how to work a bridgeport

to bad i couldnt get those other side bolt valvecovers to work, but heres the engine going in

Then after,  i converted it to a standard, i had used a saganaw 4 speed out of an 80's camaro, found out the hard way how weak they are, so i picked up a blown up munci m20 and did a full rebuild on it
heres the saginaw

then the muncie in rebuild

while i was doing the tranny i had some tax returns and i got DJM spindles and spirings to make it 5" drop in the front, then a flip kit in the rear to make it 5 in the rear

while i did that i had the bed off and painted the frame and whatnot, but since my truck is a long bed and is a standard, and the miuncie is 6 inches shorter then the origional th350, i had to use a 2 piece driveshaft, and when loweing it, i had to make a custom bearing support

stock

after

i dont have any of it with the bed on and the rear lowered :-\ but i will get some soon enough

but heres a little burn out video when i had open headers and was breaking in the new tranny and testing the lowerdness

Looking good man! I spent every penny I made on my 80 C10 when I was 18 too. I learned so much working on that truck. These trucks are the coolest! ;D

thanks guys

oh yeah and i forgot to mention im building another short block for it with 10.2:1 forged pistons and forged i beam rods, because i smoked a piston in this engine when my thermostat and temp gauge went on me in the same day and overheated my engine and locked it up >:(, so i will have that in another forum as soon as the block is bored

it has 2 flowmaster 40's 2 1/2 inch, i think come new engine im getting rid of my hooker headers because they hang too low, my buddy has some headmans that are about 3 inches higher, and im genna do an x pipe, and 3" turn downs in front of the rear wheels exiting at a 45 degree angle, who knows my plan changes by the day
