1973 Cheyenne C20 - Dash Bezel Wood Grain Vinyl Removal
« on: July 14, 2020, 02:15:16 PM »
Hi Fellas,

Can anyone share advice on the best way to remove the wood grain vinyl from the dash bezel? I was just planning on peeling it as it is old and starting to crack and fall off. There is some adhesive behind it, however it is failing in some parts and holding in others. Any tips or tricks would be great or if you can send me in the right direction that would be great as well.

Trying using a heat gun - but not to hot to melt the plastic.

Anyone know where to get the wood grain to put on? Mine is a little rough, but love the look. Can’t find anyone making them, only plain bezels. Have looked into hydro dipping, but of course not the same.

You can look up wood grain vinyl for Autos on the search engine. There are places like this:
https://www.customautotrim.com/vinyl-wrap/wood-grain-vinyl-wrap/
that offers wood grain material.

Thanks Mike, great resource. Looks like a pain in the ass to do, but at least know where to get it now. Appreciate it.

I bought a reproduction overlay from Cheyennepickup.com. This is an original bezel with their overlay. Picture is from their Instagram page.

No problem. It wasn’t cheap. I want to say around $200. But they are the only place I’ve found that make/sell them.

Well shoot, that is well worth it. I have always loved the wood grain look but didn't think I had many options other than locating some wrap that looked similar.

Agree with you Badge. I was thinking about alternatives, but this seems like a great route. I have a 73 Blazer and couldn’t find this anywhere. Checked out their site, looks sweet.

I think this Bezel and new dash (for me) will clean it up big time
