Well I have to agree. Masks will do nothing to stop a virus. It's like wearing dirty underwear on your face. Masks are for temporary use during specific activities. Living is not an activity! I took a few days off and went to the beach. The people on the beach wearing a mask.... God help us all

Well, My wife tested positive and I had similar symptoms but not bad, no test.  This is my second go around, had it back in January for a couple of weeks.  This time a couple of days but I followed the self quarantined guidelines and we have both bounced back. In our case, no big deal

One of my brothers recently got it and tested positive, along with his wife and five kids. They all had mild flu like symptoms but did not need medical treatment other than taking some ibuprofen. They are all almost over it with no concerns, no panic, no trying to force everyone else in the city to pander to their fear and crazy communist ideas. Just got over it like the flu every year.
Our communist city has been requiring masks for some time now. My brother and family being law abiding people have been wearing them. Doesn't seem to have made one **** bit of difference or prevention, just more government intrusion and control.

Some of the school districts around me are investing BIG, like millions, in online learning systems.   So, even after the crisis is over (if it ever ends.....)  kids might not being going to school anymore and just learning online at home, which, may be the better way anyways.

And just go to the school for tests?

i'm not entirely convinced;   With video modules, the person(s) making it can re-do until it's just right.   A person doing a lecture may leave stuff out and not explain certain concepts clearly.   And, let's face it:  Most people aren't that good at lecturing.

With video modules, you can re-watch as many times as necessary.   The hours are more flexible.  No travel time.

School facilities would be more of a testing facility.    i suppose there could still be in-person classes for like band, sports etc.   So maybe kids would still go, but for much less hours?


i've learned just as much, if not more, from watching youtube videos than from any classroom.

That's because lecturing is not teaching and the old model of sit down, shut up, take notes, and pass this test or you're a failure, is out. If you are over 25 years old, you probably experienced this in school and college classes are mostly this model as well, unfortunately. Blended Learning (Hybrid) is the best method. It encompasses the use of technology, where you can record lessons and chunk down content using visual and auditory methods to aid in reading, which is great for those with learning disabilities. BTW most people have learning disabilities. Then you have the "on-ground" portion of the learning where the students actually "do" which is necessary for the kinesthetic learners and for honing skills. Making school like a prison sentence, where they are doing time, is an antiquated and unnecessary part of school. If student A can complete their work in one hour why do they need to sit there while student B struggles for 3 hours? The teacher can turn their attention to those who need it and everyone can get what they need to learn. Technical schools would do even better if students mainly came to school just for shop time and were able to complete their academic studies at their pace remotely. Obviously some students need special education services and require one on one and that will never change but we should not be dumping everyone into the same bucket simply because of their age and then expecting everyone to perform the same while being taught one way.

Not only was i able to get my mower running again, but perhaps even more importantly, listen to what is said during the final 40 seconds of the video.   It changed my life. 


But yeah, i agree that hybrid learning might be the best way.

So tenth grade was great, -B A grades, 11th was a like sitting in a babysitting session.

Cali had at the time a proficiency exam, legally equivalent to Diploma. Took the test, then hung out for the balance of 11th and part of 12th in AUTO SHOP... need I say more?

I was in school in the 80’s, the old fashioned system. Sure could have used VZ’s plan back then, very applicable. I totally agree, the academic system needs a full upgrade. The old classroom courses like math, science, english, soc. studies, etc. should be remote for all that can do it.
