catalytic converter (should i or not?)
« on: March 24, 2015, 01:14:11 AM »
Hello everyone.
I have a 79 k10 4x4, 350 5.7 and i have 2 flowmasters to install. But do i really need Catalytic Converters??
I live in California. I know i can get the smog check low key under table.
By the way the mechanic told me regardless what you do, your truck wont pass the smog check.
 Thank you for your time..

If they require it you should run them.  todays cat converters are much more efficient that those of the 70-80's.

Current CA law looks to me like it tests everything built after 1975.  Test is visual inspection plus sniffer.  So you might as well put them on.  They have to go on eventually to keep it registered.
