headers that don't go below the frame
« on: October 15, 2006, 10:42:00 PM »
I  currently have long tubes and a 3/6. I have 3" spindles I need to put on, but then my headers will be too low. I need a header that wont hang down past the frame. I don't want any shorties either, I am wanting some 1 3/4 preff. Any one know of some headers?

Try Hooker Competition series headers for a 4x4, they are made to stay above the crossmember.  1 3/4" primaries, 2 1/2" fixed collectors.

so i talked to hooker today and they said that the 4x4 might be shorter but the frame is different. I thought a frame is a frame just has stuff bolted up in different places?

The topic I linked has the model that will work and they don't hang below the frame.  It is a 3/4 length set for Chevelles.

The 4x4 version has to miss the engine mount, front driveshaft etc.  The framerails are the same, the crossmembers and such are not.

I had a set of Hooker Competition longtube headers on my 77 chevy and my 90 gmc sierra, both trucks were 2wd and the headers didn't hang below the frame on either truck. They are good headers at a great price.
