Rear end swap
« on: November 14, 2023, 10:58:04 AM »
I want to put a disc rear in my 77 C10 short step side. I found a 85 C10 with disc brakes. Will it fit my 77?

Physically it will, though there will be hydraulic changes you'll need to make to function correctly, as well as some parking brake mods.

It would be easier to just swap out drums vs disc off the donor.   No C10 ever came with disc from the factory so it would be an aftermarket replacement/update.
1977 will have a 12 bolt vs the 85 with a 10bolt (8.5") and has a different size Yoke so total swap would require a hybrid u-joint.
