How do I safely disconnect this

I used to have a horse trailer and this is the brake control. I know better than just going in and cutting wires, so can someone please tell me how to disconnect this.

Disconnect the battery positive lead, cut one wire at a time near it tie down area, and safety off with wire nuts, tuck them up with tie wraps or velcro and manage not to look at them again.
