1978 K5 Blazer - New-to-me

Happy to say, I'm  the proud new owner of a classic 1978 K5 Blazer.  Purchased out of Arizona.  Supposed to be rust-free.  Looks good, fingers crossed.  This isn't a super duper high-end build or anything like that, just appears to be a nice survivor.  My wife Stacy and I are going to add our own custom touches and it will be my daily driver.  I only live about 5-6 miles to work, so no stress as I get to know the engine, transmission and drivetrain.

Right now we're working on getting it shipped from Arizona to Stuart, Florida.  A long-time friend of mine that buys and sells a lot of streetrods has listed our shipping request to a shipping transport website of some sort so now we're just waiting.

Here's a few pictures, I've never owned one this new.  Normally I prefer the full convertible pre-1976 models but it rains like clockwork here in Stuart, (warm sunny rain), and as I'm getting older, trying to avoid too much sun on the top of my melon.

Is there a place I can get help deciphering the VIN code?

-Mike

A good friend of mine checked it from top to bottom - appears to be as advertised.  Can't wait to get it shipped here.

I was a little wary because it had a fairly low (for what it is) asking price...I'm glad it checked out, and cheers to you!

Shout out to say thanks to VileZambonie for deciphering the VIN on my new Blazer.

Question?

Assuming this Blazer still has the stock engine, transmission and  transfercase, would this be,

  • 350 engine
  • 350 transmission
  • NP205 transfercase

Congrats! Great find!

Notice the hood is aftermarket. Lots of them rusted in the front flat panel between the outer skin and inner structural steel.

Did she check out for rust in other places?

My long-time friend Ted checked her out 9 ways to Sunday and says she looks clean as in no  rust.

She was loaded onto a car hauler last night in Arizona, now headed to Florida.  Supposed to be here Thursday or Friday.
