Raptor tintable bed liner
« on: June 18, 2021, 01:27:45 AM »
Hello all -

Just wanted to find out if anyone has seen, or had experience with, the Raptor tintable bed liner.  I was at a car show and there was a truck there that had this sprayed in the bed.  The guy said it was clear and then you add so many ounces of color.  It looked really good and seemed tough.  I prefer the idea of having the bed the same color as the truck.  Has anyone had any experience with this stuff?  I cannot find anyplace that is a distributor and/or applies it.  Appears to be a self apply, after prep.  Amazon sells it.

The shop by my house used to use it all the time.  The did an El Camino, and a few Pickups and a Jeep.
It is just like a "normal bedliner but won't be as thick as how Rhino sprays on unless you do multiple coats.

As far as long term UV not sure about that, but I did see the Elco a year after and it looked the same.  It didn't sit outside 24/7 though and the color was light blue.  Their site says it is UV resistant for 5000 hours though.

Any Local Paint store should carry this.

Just wanted to follow up on my original question about Raptor.  I did coat the bed.  Here is a pic of how it turned out.  I like it a lot.

Thanks, I made sure I prepped the crap out of it.  Tailgate is done also on the inside.

Sometimes I get people that offer to buy it.  Last time I was in the Starbucks drive thru (before they became jerks about cops) and a pretty burgandy Chevy Silverado was in front of me.  I was sitting there admiring it when the guy got out of the drivers side, walked back to my truck and ask me if I would consider selling it.  I do get a lot of thumbs up though and head turns.    :)

Nice job with the liner, it does look a lot better than the "basic" colors.

The color match looks perfect, how'd you manage that?

How's it holding up (fade/UV)?

(Had a better response, computer refused to post it)

Thanks.  I get my all my paint sent to me through Automotive Touchup (https://www.automotivetouchup.com/).  They have done a great job of colormatching.  I have purchased several rattle cans for small stuff, a quart of single stage for painting my hood and another quart to mix with the tintable liner.  I called to tell them what was needed for the liner and they did it right.  I highly recommend them.  Even the guy that repainted my hood and then blended down the fenders said the paint layed out good.

If interested in doing this, there are lots of Youtube videos out there to watch - I certainly did.  And make sure to follow the shaking directions exactly.  Have a timer on hand.  And gloves!!!!! and in an area you don't want to get over spray on.  This stuff sticks to everything.
