yet another build question
« on: February 17, 2010, 09:49:22 AM »
Hey guys, been a while since ive posted anything. Should have been workin on the truck but got discouraged after running into some more problems. Anyways I'm back at it! After all the snow we had melted away i noticed i had some fluids under the truck. I got a small pinhole in the oil pan, no bigge, and transmission fluid everywhere, biggie!!! I have no idea what could be the issue with the transmission so some pointers would be appreciated!!! I'm wanting to replace my 305 with a 350 from enginefactory.com turnkey right out the box just order to your application and drop it in!!! simple but now the tranny's out. wanting to keep the 3 speed auto. Question is, anybody reccomend buying both new or rebuild the transmission? away from that I'be been wanting to upgrade my front end to the 88-98 anybody done it, know how or have advice? all help and opinions are appreciated!

88 to 91 you need the core support, entire grill, lights, and light harness. Fenders, inner fenders, and hood are the same as 81 to 91. 73 to 80 you will need the entire nose from the doors forward.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

88-98 is impossible.  Not the same truck.  I am guessing you mean 89-91 R/V
This has been covered ALOT on here.

With a little work it can be done.

If your talking about the 88-98 trucks, i ve never seen it done.
Of course a new transmission would be the best, but expensive. If you get it rebuilt, ask around and find what shop has the best reputation, but the most important thing is WARRANTY. Every time I've had a trans rebuild, I've had to use it. Good luck.

Is the tranny out or just leaking. I have a couple that will leak trans fluid if they sit for a while, but once if they get driven often, they dont leak. It may be something as simple as changing a few seals on the tranny.

Well it has been sitting for a while! About 3 months, carb went out and haven't even got to messin' with it. Fluid was everywhere but if the same happens to you its proly no biggie. And on the phantom grille... I was looking for the split two piece front end. I looked for the pic again and even posted I was looking for it on criagslist (where I saw it first) no luck. I just like the head light upgrades on the 88-98. I think ill just go with our phantom style and do some work on my roll pan to move the park light. They make the smoothie front bumper with the park light upgrade might do that to..... decisions.... decisions!!!!
