Sport Package Question

<< < (2/9) > >>

Breadfather:
That is a great idea. I never thought about that.  Any extra value in the truck if it retains its original "deluxe sport package" look?  It seems like as the 67-72 short beds get a lot harder to find, the mid 70s short beds are starting to jump a lot in the value as well.  I'm not in it to make money, I just don't want to change it if it is a "more rare" truck.

To a purist it may be worth more but since there are no hard numbers of production it is a matter of personal preference.  I am not fond of step sides.  I would rather have a longbed but that is my personal preference.  I like them stock and the plainer the better but that is me.  Value is in the eye of the beholder.  Big difference in price of a midwest truck versus something down in Texas...

Captkaos:
The 9J9 is the COPO option for the "sport rail" (Chevrolet called it a Rollbar)  Based on what I have read from Alex (resident SPORT guru)  I would say this could be a SPORT truck and I would consider it rare..

The Chevy Sport option in 76 and 77 was a COPO

Z77 RPO code for Chevy Sport/GMC Street Coupe was not used until 1978 and ended in 1981

I guess I will have to contact the GM heritage site and see if I can get the dealer invoice, for $50 it may be worth it just to have either way.  I can't believe for how many trucks were made in these years how hard it is to find info on the sport package.  Like I've said I've seeN many step side 2wd ones, a few step side 4wd ones, and only 1 fleet side 4wd with the light bar.  And it was a different color, different engine, different interior, etc.

I downloaded the 103 page "info kit" from GM heritage and there is no mention in there of a sport package, the best info I can find is at the below link, on page 7

Breadfather:
It is under the training section, then under pickups
