Holley Sniper and Fuel Tank Swap
« on: May 27, 2022, 06:06:02 PM »
Posted this elsewhere, but need a sanity check:

Old, dirty saddle tanks are coming out and I'm leaning towards the 31 gallon Blazer tank to go with a Sniper EFI swap. This is also going to coincide with new brake lines (see Complete brake line replacement).

Two tank options I'm looking at currently:
https://www.classicindustries.com/product/1983/chevrolet/truck/parts/ft5018a.html

https://www.efisystempro.com/efi-fuel-tank-1982-87-chevy-blazer-tm15b-t-kit

I'm still sorting through the particulars/odds/ends but am currently planning on pulling the bed in the coming weeks and starting the teardown.

Is there a Holley-specific pump/sending unit I should be considering with the non-efi tank from Classic?

Are either of those tank options better than the other?

Sanity/idiot check?

Getting rid of the saddle tanks for a single bigger tank is good. I had trailer hitch junk all welded in from PO so put in one 20 gal saddle tank.

I put in a Holley fuel pump in the tank with my sniper ego.  It is flexible for different heights. Also bought the sending unit from Holley. Seems accurate, but the gauge goes down really fast after 1/3rd tank.  Maybe it’s just 9 mpg.

I have a leftover in-line Holley fuel pump from the build. My impression is that the tank would be quieter, the engine builder included this other pump. If you’re in Seattle area we can make a deal.  I don’t ship.

If you are going to run a blazer tank, why not run the 87-91 tank and sending unit? Then all you need is the 25163473 pump. Same if you keep the saddle tanks, 87-91 R/V.
