Dakota speedo sender

Merry Christmas all. New guy here. I did some searching and couldn’t find any relevant info. I have a 78 K15 SM465 with Np 205 t case. I’m doing Dakota gauges. I’m having issues with the speedo. Those of you that have done this on a 4x4, where did you screw in the Dakota sender? Directly into the case or did you use the original cable adapter?
