fuel vapor

(1/1)

markzepp820:
I have a question I've always been wondering about. I have a 79' chevy truck, and of course due to emissions it has the vapor line from the fuel tank and the carb bowl vent to a vapor canister. I noticed a lot of hotrods, ect... that have aftermarket gas tanks and carbs don't have this stuff. Do the fuel vapors just go into the atomosphere? Gas tanks with one line(feed), do they have vented gas caps? Basically, how to these vapors escape?

On most of these people tear them out like they're garbage. You can easily hide a charcoal can but like I said most people throw them out. The fuel vapor is usually only vented when the gas cap is released. It's not really safe to have an open vent.
