Post by: SK468 on February 17, 2004, 10:46:00 PM
Hello everyone I have a 14 bolt and it's an open differential, what's the cheapest way to get a posi or locker in there? If you know of sources that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!

Detriot locker is the cheapest to get, but are getting more expensive.  I believe that you can get one new for about $350 if you shop around, they were about $300 a year ago.  It replaces the spider gears inside an open differential.  If you have a carrier from a 14 bolt that originally came with a gov-loc then you will need to find a new carrier.

*edit* I forgot to mention that this is for a full floating 14 bolt only.

Are you talking about the powertrax locker? That's the one that goes inside your existing differential, last I looked through Jegs they wanted $450 for it. If you know of a cheaper source for one I would be interested, thanks for the help!! Ohh and my 14 bolt is an open diff and it's a full floater as well.
