Spare Tire - Where should it go?
« on: March 24, 2006, 09:00:00 AM »
Got an 1981 SWB Cheyenne. Original optiion was side bed mounted spare. Should I put it underneath and if so, where do I get the parts? I'm leaning that way.... ideas and suggestions welcome.

Cheapest would probably be go to a U-pull-it junk yard and see if you can scavage the hardware.

I usually pitch my spares and carry a can of that tire inflate stuff. This probably is not wise.....

Hey what are the wheels on your truck they look good.

I would say pick-a -parts  or depending on the look your going for there is the rear tire bumper mount but that more for the 4x4 guys. Don't go with out the spare tire. Fix a flat works in a pinch sometimes, but it better as a back up to the spare tire.

Wheels are Eagle Alloys 057 15x8" Tires are BFGoodrich 255 r70 15. Took a while for me to decide on these. I have stock C10 no lift.

I bought a doughnut spare from a wrecking yard the fit an Astro van. Its tall enough to run with  my tires 235/60/15's & 275/60/15's and it doesn't hang down to low under the bed. Works for me.
