I am trying to figure out what transfer case I have. It has, in order, 4 high lock, 2 high, neutral, 2 low, and 4 low lock. The transfer case is fully functional. there is no numbers, or anything on the transfer case itself. Everywhere else I look, nobody know what I am talking about. I do have the original options sticker that told what the original truck came with. For the most part the truck is original. But there is no option for a different transfer case. The transfer case is married to a 350 transmission that is not factory listed, it lists a 400 transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

NP203.

Every np203 I find doesn't have that option. Was that only a certain kind of np203.

I second the opinion of a NP203. If you are still unsure, take a pic of the backside (camera facing front of truck)

Hi geoffrey, welcome to the site.
I agree w/ thirsty. Are you sure you are not confusing the NP203 wth the NP205? Both look identical from a short distance. Both have an ID tag on the back if it hasn't been removed. The NP205 does not have the 'lock' feature. It has a different drain plug on the back cover but the NP203 doesn't have a drain plug; it's drained by loosening the cover bolts. Both have fill plugs in the same loc'n, IIRC. I think there are threads w/ photos on this site that show the outside differences of the cases. Maybe this will help.

It sounds like you have a NP203 with a part time conversion.
The NP203 could be had behind the TH350, TH400 and SM465 transmission.
After a part time kit is installed in the NP203, you'll come out with a 2wd low position as well as the 2wd high position.

My 74 k10 with a Sm 465 transmission, has a NP203, and on the face plate for the transfer case (inside the truck on floor ) it has the same configuration as you described. Does your shifter handle have a Hurst shifter on it ? These came factory on the NP203 on certain years.

how does the 203 have 4 selections? wouldnt that make it a 205

No...that would make it a 207 (203+4)! ;D
-
Twin stick? or single stick? sounds more like a 205 than a 203. Is the case aluminum or cast iron?
-
Fine, I'll bite.
Post a pic and eliminate the guess work. After 35 years, it could be anything.

I know my 203 has the pto ports on both sides of the transmission, can anybody tell me if the 205 has them too, it has been a while since I looked at a 205 and can not remember.

Like said if it has a drain plug its a 205

Does the back of your transfer case look like this one?

If so, then it's a NP203.

note: in the middle of this pic is the fill plug not drain plug
