You are a few inches taller, but I'm sitting at about the same weight (working on that part
). I think it's just "different", rather than bad to be sitting a little higher. If I had a tilt steering column (which I might do at some point anyway), it wouldn't be as big of a deal. As it is now, the steering wheel is right in my line of sight to the speedo. I'm sure I can adjust and get used to it, and that is my plan for now. I might lose some of the 1/2" I gained by removing the spacer nuts when I get the sound deadener, heat shield and carpet installed, but I think it'll be ok.

Six years ago, at age 55, I took up powerlifting. I didn't lose any weight, but I added a lot of muscle mass and shed fat. Muscle is 3 times denser than fat, so I am thinner, but I lost no weight.
Strong is the new skinny.
Obligatory truck content: Being stronger makes it a lot easier to work on the truck!
The steering wheel is in my way for seeing the speedometer as well, but that has been true of just about every vehicle I have ever owned. I always buy tilt-wheel when I buy a new care, so I can see the danged thing. The truck doesn't have it, though, and I'm not sure I want it. Sounds like a lot of people have trouble with them.

It's taken a while, but I finally got the interior complete. It's not perfect, but I'm very happy with it. Here are a few pics.

Thanks Rich. I'm very pleased with the results....new floor pan on the passenger's side, then sound deadener, foil-backed pad and new carpet. A local upholsterer custom made the piece for under the rear window and around the cab corners, and covered the wood grain panels on the doors - I ordered extra matching vinyl when I got the seats, so it matches very well.
Then we went with SEM Color Coat in Blue Mist to refinish all of the trim pieces, dash pad, and door panels. I was very happy with how the SEM spray can stuff worked, and also how closely it matched the leather and vinyl of my seats. Went with the dark blue carpet, and I think it gives it a nice contrast of blues in the truck.

This popped back to the top with DnStClr's comment, and I had to take the opportunity again to say how nice it turned out and how much I like it.
One other note: I prefer having an open tray to the covered thing, and the lid hit me wrong in the elbow, so I just took that hinged lid off the tray on the console. Four screws, no biggie, and the small screw holes are not obvious.

Just re visiting this if I may.
Looks great. Wondering if you still have the truck and seats in and if you could snap a pic of the actual cup holders.
They look so shallow. Are they even useable?
Basically the only reason why I would change the bench seat in the first place. Is to do something with a fold down armrest console with cup holders. I need my coffee in the morning

If that's all you need, get the ash tray cup holder.

I miss spoke. Wouldn’t be the ONLY reason.
I know about the ash tray holder too. Does that thing just push in tight or what?

Works great. Better than the center console
