greetings from New Hampshire
« on: August 09, 2023, 04:52:33 AM »
Last summer I bought a pickup for plowing. I found this on craigslist and was impressed with the build. I got her in Aug of 2022 and everything except steering seemed to work good at that point. A friend with a trailer hauled her home for me as it was 100 miles.

1979 K30 frame
1980 C10 cab
454 crate motor
edelbrock 1406 with carburetor no emissions
4.56 gears
diff lockers front and rear
sander
v-plow converted to hydraulic
old school hydraulic pump under the hood
single rear wheel
manual transmission
suspension has additional leaves front and rear... looks overly lifted without the sander and plow

It was registered and had plates when I bought it. I have had some issues and difficulties,,, had to replace the power steering pump, the rag joint and really a bunch of little stuff. I didn't get sticker last winter but she did keep the driveway clear for me.

I've just replaced the carburetor, and fuel delivery problems seem to be solved. I guess I should say too that I was going to rebuild the carb but having no basis of camparison or experience with a carburetor I thought a new one might be the way to go (so now I have a spare).

Anyway truck runs nicely and has a lot of torque. This summer I'm just trying to go through what I can and make sure that everything is good for the winter. I hope to get my inspection sticker soon. Its never going to be a daily driver but I'd like to make some short trips around town on the weekends.

Cool rig!  Welcome from Central California.

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

Hey thanks for the support!

Here's a couple pictures of the work last November when I had to replace the power steering pump and the steering wheel (in the driveway). Notice the plow control valve in the pic without the steering wheel, a little unconventional but it works.

Sure someday I dream of nicer paint and interior but I've got a long list of projects and it'll take time.
