Recently replaced the bed wood
Thought I'd share
Removing the old stuff was a pain
Diamond plate bolted on top of plywood that was bolted on top of what was left of the original wood and strips
Most of the original wood was rotten and gone and the bedsides actually sit on the wood and with it missing the bed flops around and rattles a lot
Lots of time with the grinder and sawzall to get it all out
Discovered that two body mounts were sawed off
Apparently from when a fleet side bed was removed and they couldn't get the bolts out so they sawed the mount out of the fleet bed and sawed the mount off the stepside bed so it would fit on the frame
We bought new strips from Jegs. $70 and free shipping
Bought new bolts at local hardware store
Bought some cedar 1x6 and 1x8 boards at big box store
The 1x6 was 5 & 1/4 wide which was right for the side boards
The 1x8 was 7&1/4 Right size for the center boards
We set the fence in the table saw right next to the blade and ran the boards thru standing on edge cutting the width of the blade deep and 5/8 wide
The side boards got a wider slice. Don't remember exactly what
Turned out nice
