Title: 1986 C10 California emissions
Post by: jtsalas11 on August 09, 2021, 10:37:01 AM
Hi all, I have a 1986 C10 with California emissions. Previous owner stripped a lot of the emissions equipment off unfortunately and it wont pass smog. Trying to find an 86 CA emissions equipment donor, specifically for the AIR injections system (air injection tubes/hoses, diverter valve, diverter valve bracket), EGR system (EGR, EGR Solenoid, EGR solenoid bracket, hoses, etc) and any other components such as the TVS, decel valve, manifolds with air tube ports and 02 sensor port, etc. Preferably for a 5.0 (305). If anyone has ideas for a source, please let me know.

A&B truck dismantler in San Diego.

Office 619 234 5171

Have your complete list.

Have you taken it to the Referee station? Supposedly if the repair costs more that 50.00 you can get an exemption.

Johnny Popper - Thanks I will call. I'm in Northern California but any leads are good. I have not been to the ref yet, but I plan to call them first to get as much info as possible before I get too crazy with anything. If its going to be a few thousand in repairs, I may just look into an LS swap, which has its own challenges in CA as well, but I think in the long run would be worth the time and effort.

Zieg85 - That looks like a few of the items I'm looking for. Are those off of an 86 California emissions with 305? If so, I am interested. Especially if you have everything including EGR, sensors, vacuum hoses and fittings, etc.

I really wish I had done my homework on the 86 C10 before buying it. I had no idea it had so much emissions crap on it.

Hey just a thought: Some models have a Federal smog standard, then others have a Federal & California standard. Check your door tag to see what is called out. If it's only a Fed standard you may not require as much as a California.

This info was relative to a '76 Ford Van, I took it to get it smog check and the mechanic thought  I had stripped all the parts off. Finally found a smart mechanic... ::)
