Bucket seat conversion
«
on:
July 30, 2010, 11:44:31 AM »
I bought a set of buckets out of a mid 80's Blazer at a swap meet, but it seems the floor pan for a 79 pickup and the blazer are different. Is there a set of buckets that will work, or maybe some frames I can put on these seats to work in my pickup?
Just saw this thread
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=16934.0
I know a guy with a late 80's/early 90's suburban that wanted to trade for my bench but the bucket seats were the same as my blazer seats and wouldn't work. Any more specifics on the correct seat frames I need?

Thanks for the links. I pulled up the street beat customs website and it lists two options, one of which has "drill" in the title. Both say they fit the Corbeau seats. Should I assume they also fit the factory buckets I have?

Don't assume anything. Call or email them and ask.

Good point. I'll be calling Corbeau in the morning and will post my finding in case any other members want to know.

Just spoke to the people at Corbeau and they say they will not work with the factory seats, only with their Corbeau seats.

You need Suburban bucket seat brackets and the inner mounts.

Thanks for the info. I had a guy I tried to trade my bench for his buckets out of his suburban, but the seats were exactly the same as my Blazer seats that mounted flat in the back instead of angled to match the floor pan. So I will be hitting the junk yards to see if I can find the right brackets and mounts. In your other post you said the mounts are welded to the floor. Does this mean I will need to cut and weld in the new front mounts, or am I reading too much into your post? Sorry for beating this topic to death.

The 84-91 suburban seat bracket WILL fit a 73-87. Just bend the rear mount up to match the floor.
The inner mounts are welded to the floor, you will have to remove them with a spot weld cutter or a chisel.

for a truck can't you just use 2 sets of bench seat tracks for buckets?

Back from the dead. Just wanted to post another possible solution. Has anyone heard good/bad things about the scat/procar seats and brackets? These are the seats I'm looking at, but of course they have other color combos.

Seats and brackets for ~$485.00 shipped seems much better than the $800.00+ for the Corbeau's. I understand these are vinyl/velour where the Corbeau's are cloth and leather.

Thanks, I'd like to see them. There's a local guy parting out a 76 with buckets already in it. Planning on stopping by tomorrow to see what seats and brackets he's got.

This question gets asked a lot. Might be worth creating a sticky dedicated to it.
