'77 c10 AWD conversion
« on: April 07, 2015, 08:10:04 PM »
Has anyone done an AWD conversion to a 77-79 C10 short bed?  Want to keep it low.

Are you talking about using the 4 wheel drive parts from a K10 or doing some sort of swap and moving parts from a totally different vehicle to the C10?

NP203 is not AWD but it would be the closest.

best bet would be to buy a rusted out 4x4 and swap bodys. all you have to worry about is the transfercase hitting the floor board. either a body lift or changing the center hump on your 2wd cab

We still don't know if TL125 is talking about using 4X4 parts or a completely different setup from a production AWD vehicle. I know I would love to throw the AWD power train from a yukon Denali under a C10. That would be REALLY fun.

That would be sweeeet. Yukon XL Denali under a restored suburban would also be pretty awesome.

Where did the OP go?

helped a friend do a 50s ford p/u onto an awd explorer, the years of them escape me now but it was the same wheelbase. I took the truck & he took the explorer he has two lifts in his shop, we each split them & had p/u over explorer chassis in 6 hours, kinda ridiculous how simple it was. He had it fabbed together in about 100 hours I believe. the truck is lovingly referred to as Mater lol.
