1982 c10 bench seat in a 1976 c15? any issues?
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:56:20 PM »
We have a 1976 GMC 1/2 ton regular cab c15. Originally it had the seat belt retractors 1/2 way up the door pillar, with the new 1982 seat that is narrower at the back end should we go with the retractors that are on the floor? Also noticed the 82 seat has cut outs for the belts in the middle, there were no cut outs on the old bench seat, better to have the cutouts than not? The 82 seat physically fits in the 76 cab ok,brackets line right up.

Early models came with lap belts 73-75 but all trucks accept the 3 point belts. Regardless of the seat you use they should all fit.

I found the mount  locations on the floor are different,so I have access to a 1974 c10 bench seat with good cover and foam, the only issue is in 1974 a folding seat was an option, and of course this one doesn't fold, can I take the cover and foam off the 74 and put it on the 76 folding bench seat?  Recovering and repairing the foam on  the 76 estimates were from $730 -$895,

It isn't listed but I sell seat foam sets for the 1973-1980 seats cost is $265 plus $125 shipping.  I also sell seat covers.  Roughly $190 for Vinyl and $205 for vinyl/velour + shipping.
Email me if you are interested.  webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com

The mid seat belts are typically on 77 model trucks.  What is your VIN?
All the seats should swap, the 1982-up had seat belt holes in the cushion.

The 82 floor is formed for retractors on the floor so that's why the seat is narrower at the rear, the 76 has the retractors mounted half way up the jamb so thee seats are strait back.74 does not have 3pt belts. So I'm hoping to get the 74 seat and modify it to fold? And find the 76 saet beal set-up.
