Sorry to hear that Mike...no matter what part of the family, how old or young it's never easy! Already s not prayers for you and your family!

Froto I looked at the site, what are you referring to as 'pic-a-part'?
I think he's referring going to a yard for a new seat is much easier on the walker.

Thanks!

Yes I was referring to the junkyard. Around here they are monopolized by corporate salvage companies. But 50% off engines, trans this week!

Congrats! I am getting much closer myself! However for the next couple of weeks I will not get much work done due to a niece on hospice and not expected to be around much longer. Your truck is looking good and sounded good as well.
Hi Mike,

So sorry to hear about your niece. Our prayers for you and your family.

Thanks much. Here's a tip, take the drive in full daylight. It seems much of my lighting stuff is off. Even a headlight adjuster popped off while we were just sitting there.

I canceled my backorder grille, ordered a '79 because it's black not gray. Hopefully it fits.

Mark

I don't know that I'll get much done tomorrow, so here's w what I got done over the two week vacation. Pictures out of order...

1. Second drive!  to the gas station and around, calibrated speedometer
2. First haul! Friend indefinitely loaning me his cherry picker.
3. Epic failure on underhood lights. A short and the front ones falling off even though it should work according to data sheet. Well, power and fuses all in place.
4. Installed auxiliary 12V and USB. Plan to someday get one of those automotive air compressors.
5. Figured out not enough load on the led Taillights. New flasher on order and oscilloscope so I can measure the waveform.
6. Dash is ready to install, at last! Posts for the molding are too short, drilled holes and put in bolts to hold the vents, flipped the nuts upside down to hold the loulding.
7. Wrestled with seat positing.
8. Finished rebuilding one vent window! One down, one to go...
9. Insulated both doors, installed new latches. Closes with a solid this now. Sweet!
10. Ordering all the stuff I missed...
11. Lots of hikes in a rare big snow, family stuff, movies with the family

Happy new year!

Thanks Johnny!

I'm itching to install the grill, it's been stuck in shipping for two weeks but has made it to our region. Any day now!

I promised I'd post results of the flasher study.  The United Pacific relay, 90652 without using the swap component, works without any fanfare, yeah!

The other relay had just what I expected, drops to around 3V instead of 0V.  I superimposed the two images together, attached.

Boxes from 3 years to the recycler. Cold ride, 38F no side windows, but the heat works. Only half the boxes were mine.

Finally got the window brackets in. Could not find pics on internet so here are some. They were a fourth inch too short on length. Probably the aftermarket doors, but these brackets are aftermarket too. Broke the captive nut off, used a 1" bolt on the mirror, nut on the door wall took up the extra gap.

Door locks in. Yeah the pawl are left /right specific so I put the first one in swapped of course. All done now.

Time to start installing the door windows.

Glove box in. Too big for aftermarket ac unit, cut according to their template, riveted back in.

Lock came out easy with pick and youtube videos.

Went to install the grille tonight. I've got six small square plastic clips. Of course only the two center positions holds the clips. It looks like the outer are very different, perhaps like these that are on backorder. I suppose a little sheet metal work and I'll be good to go, but geez.

Picture of the center support and the two side supports.

How do you attach your grille?

I did mine with zip-ties as a "temporary" fix, and I'll fix it when I get the time.  Of course that was 4 years ago, so...

Lol, that was the previous solution. If I can get to the plastics store and get some nylon bars, I might get the router out and make something. We'll, that's involved. Maybe just hacksaw a slot.

I HATE automatic transmission fluid. I think it smells like puke. Put my new gate on last week after picking up some plastic and creating my own brackets. Pictures included. I had to push back my transmission cooler bypass valve. Apparently I didn't have one hose on correctly and unbeknownst to me it popped loose.

I dumped a bunch of fluid on the garage floor and made a trail into the driveway. Corrected it, I hope.

Being innovative. The grille hardware is this https://www.cjponyparts.com/amk-products-grille-hardware-chevrolet-gmc-truck-1973-1980/p/G24059/

but they probably won't as last as long as your brick  ;D
