Msd blaster coil on stock 350 tbi
« on: September 05, 2022, 12:30:35 PM »
Is it worth the money to put the Msd blaster 8226 on my stock truck? Will I still be able to leave my tach hooked up to the coil output lead?

Not needed even if you could decipher the wiring.

You don't need any higher voltage or current to make a TBI run. Boost compression,  change fuel, rev higher, etc, and that's a different story when you start talking about ignition. TBI's suck right off the production floor... a blaster isn't gonna give you more power.

Yeah not trying to get more power just thought a better made part would pay off. I appreciate the help.

The 350 TBI doesn't even flow enough to support doing anything to a TBI chevy. Takes more than a blaster coil to make a TBI good..

I read it takes about $2k to get 100hp out of a NA TBI 350.. I put 6k splurged even,  and got a good 350.

A good quality stock replacement coil will function perfectly even with moderate performance engine upgrades.  The tach signal universally comes from the negative primary coil terminal with the exception of a few aftermarket CD ignition systems.
