4L60 E rebuild.....
« on: January 24, 2023, 09:15:53 PM »
Ballpark, how much do 4L60 E rebuilds generally cost?

This is if a decent shop is doing it; i'm not going to attempt this at home, kids.

Also, let's talk about 4L60's in general / anything else i should know about?

The 4L60 E in my colorado has crapped out, because-----you guessed it----the 3/4 clutch pack is toast.....

I would charge more than you would pay for a reman unit. They generally cost whatever the builder estimates which is a wide range.

i've heard that remans are often cheaper and faster than rebuilding.

i've also heard that the 4L60 E in the colorado is specific to the vehicle, so rebuilding may be the only practical way?

Do torque converters normally get replaced or flushed during a rebuild?

Estimated overhaul with new torque converter, I would charge $3150, does not include R&I and fluids etc. So I'm sure you would find cheaper options with a reman and yes always replace torque converter.

I use the Heavy Hauler, 2400 stall, and  US Shift Quick 4 on my 93 with a built 350 with aftermarket Fuel Injection.
Performabuilt makes one heck of a transmission.

Burnt up two 3rd clutches before buying a Performabuilt.
