Another FNG
« on: February 07, 2023, 05:04:10 PM »
I guess I need to start out with I'm a Mopar guy. Always have been always will be and currently drive an 850hp 2017 Charger Scat Pack. Although I've worked on PLENTY of Chevys, I've never owned one until now.

I'm on a daily hunt for a new project. No rush to get one, just looking to see if there's something out there that grabs me by the short and curlies.

A couple weeks ago, my youngest son (who has NEVER shown an interest in cars aside from riding in them) asked I'd we could get a project that I could teach him about cars with.

Say no more son. Say. No. More.

A day later, an '85 Chevy C10 shows up on CL for $2500. All I saw was, "clear title", "no rust" and "$2500". I text the guy, went the next day to look at it and paid the man his money. I figure there's not a better starter than a carbed small block with plenty of room to work in, so, we'll be trailering it up to my son's house this weekend (his garage is bigger than mine and isn't full of hot rod) and we'll get to work.

I'm looking forward to picking brains, learning a little more and maybe sharing some of what I've gleaned in 40+ years or wrenching as well.

Congratulations and we will look forward to pics. My brother is a big Mopar owner lover. He has had Plymouths and Pontiacs.

87 is an R10 not a C10, there's your first lesson to teach the lad. Good luck with it.
