I need a wiper delay module for a 1980 C20
« on: February 03, 2018, 04:21:10 PM »
Everyone,

I have a 1980 C20 3/4 ton 2WD with Scottsdale Trim.  I have read the threads about changing to intermittent wipers.  I found the switch no problem but the delay module is proving elusive.

I swiped a link to the part from this post:  http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=9857.msg67495#msg67495

Here's the module:  GM PN# 88960364

If anyone has an update part number or can point me in the direction of a compatable vehicle I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Near as I can tell Irish that is for vehicles after 1984.  Anyone else have any advice?

The original GM part number is 14056557 replaced by 15598419.  The module was used on 1979 - 1982 C/K 1/2, 3/4 & 1-ton trucks with pulse wipers.  OEM is obsolete.  Except by sheer chance, you're unlikely to find any reproductions.  Rarely, they pop up on E-bay either as take-offs or NOS.  Best bet is probably to scour the yards for a doner.  Because of the vintage, chances are high that any electrolytic capacitors on the board will have dried out and need to be replaced.

This is for the switch.  There is a delay module that goes with it.  That's what I'm looking for.

Grizzly, 14056557* is the OEM number for the module, which is NLA.  The OEM number for the switch is 14028808*, also NLA.  Both numbers are directly from the GM 52A parts manual (asterisks color keyed to image).

You're right I wound up finding the parts manual and looking it up myself.  It's still impossible to find.  I was hoping it would show up in an el camino or a Caddilac or something.
