I want to keep my truck OEM, but these wipers have to go.
I have to get my my windshield worked on and the OE wipers almost need a crowbar to pry off the vehicle and there is nothing to use for leverage.. the aluminum-foil-thin, nicely painted cowling being right behind it.
Are there any aftermarket wipers that fit the style of our trucks, ones that can be simply removed via a clipping mechanism, etc.?
Thank you.

These are held on with a tab you have to release to get them off already...
-
Is there some kind of trick to it? These dang things won't come off.

I just lift up the arm on the wiper end, push the tab back with a small screw driver and pull up...

If it comes to the worst I'm going to have to dremel these things off.
I have the metal latch pushed all the way back.. in fact it is free floating at this time.. and I can yank forward on the whole arm with all of my body wright and it wont budge.
It's not possible to drive without wipers but I'll figure something out.

The arm is probably just corroded to the drive pawl. Saturate the arm attachment to the pawl with PB Blaster for a few days, then use a broad blade screwdriver inserted between the bottom shoulder of the arm and a steel nut or other hard object positioned below the screwdriver against the body as a spacer and fulcrum. Rotate the screwdriver to pry upward on the arm. Be patient.
The best tool I ever found was made by ANCO, but has been out of production for many years...

The glass installer used this: http://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and-specialty-tools/windshield-wiper-arm-tool/help-windshield-wiper-arm-tool/439291_0_0/ (http://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and-specialty-tools/windshield-wiper-arm-tool/help-windshield-wiper-arm-tool/439291_0_0/)
The popped right off.

Thank you.
What about wiper types...the replaceable wiper blades themselves? Is there a code number of some kind I can take to the local auto parts store?
Thx.

What would you recomend for aftermarket windshield wipers and arm assemblies?
The GMC 94 pickup truck has a good, black wiper assembly. They look like they come off easy, and the arm even bends out away from the window to keep the wiper from freezing to the window. Will a GMC 94 truck's system fit an 81 Silverado?
