I'm ordering my exhaust From summit. I was going dual exhaust. Dynomax has a cheap kit and uses 2.25" piping. I have headers with 1.5" primaries, 3" collector. All sound good so far?

Would studs be the way to go or will bolts be alright to use when installing the manifold to the heads?

Iv seen notched crossmembers advertised for dual exhaust, good investment?

Pipe sizes are good.  There are people who will tell you to go at least 2.5", but that's not required.  A normally aspirated 5000 rpm 350 just doesn't pump enough air to need more than 2.25".

Studs are okay, but best suited for use in aluminum heads or in situations in which the manifolds/headers are removed regularly so as to minimize wear on the threads in the cylinder heads.  Unless your application falls under one of these two scenarios, I'd recommend using 3/8"-16 x 0.750" - 1" under-head-length (UHL) header bolts that have 3/8" wrench, 6- or 12-point heads.  The smaller wrench size works well with headers.

the Dynomax kit should clear the crossmember no problem. its made to fit the truck(at least it should fit)

you will probably need 3" to 2 1/4" header reducers. i doubt they come in the kit. you may also need to make/buy other little things. like hangers, clamps, ect.

and i dont know if they are all like my truck but when i put my headers on i had to use a spacer and reuse the stock manifold bolt that is used to mount the power steering pump

For header bolts, I used these.  They have an inner hex socket that allows you to get an allen driver in there.  Much easier in the tight confines with headers.  Over three years, no problems.  Torque checked at oil changes, have never been loose.  Got mine from JEGS, but their site is down at the moment.

This is the same kit I bought for my truck. It does NOT include reducers, Your local exhaust shop will likely make some 3" to 2.25" reducers for you for a pretty reasonable price. As for the kit, the pipes are good quality, they fit well if you use Dynomax, Summit, Jegs, or Flowtech headers for our trucks, if the headers you have are like mine and tuck up in the frame the kit will not work. I used the extension pipes included in the kit to fab up the front few feet of the exhaust. The actual main pieces I am keeping for when I get nicer headers. Oh, the kit says for vehicles equipped with cats, so a crossover pipe fits in perfectly if you aren't running cats.

I just did this to my truck 85 c30 truck came with th400 and my crossmember was right in the way got one off an older truck that bolted to top of fram and curved under trans had to change mounting bolts as well but my main problem with the dynomax pipes is thay was ment to mount on the old pipes from the stock headers i had long tubes on the truck with 3 in collectors i got so weired reducers that didnt fit match the reducer to the headers but after cutting and making it all work and could use all the pipe i wish i would have spent that extra for a better set up cause i now have to buy new reducers because i got leaks all over

+1 on that - dual 2.25" or single 2.5" both are good out to 3-350 hp any larger dia. and you'll lose bottom end and power
