Direction Indicator in Dash...
« on: July 05, 2013, 09:21:23 AM »
Well...some of you might have seen my post a while back about my search for the panel mount 194 bulbs for my '91 Crew.  I have another issue and since I'm sitting here at work and don't have my wiring diagrams in front of me, I thought I'd ask the group...

My LH Direction Indicator quit working some time ago and I thought that it was just a burnt-out bulb.  I replaced the 194P or whatever it is called and it did not solve the issue.  So...what could be the issue?  I am thinking maybe the printed circuit is damaged at that location, but besides that...anyone have some insight?  The actual Turn Signal works just fine; it just doesn't light-up in the dash.

The left turn indicator is powered directly from the turn switch, via Light Blue Ckt 14.  Circuit 14 feeds the forward left turn lamp.  Depending on which diagram you reference, the light blue wire from I/P cluster connector pin 10 splices into Ckt 14 at the bulkhead connector (pin N6) on the firewall, or is continuous between the turn signal switch connector and the cluster connector.  If the PCB is in good shape, there's an open in the light blue wire leading to the cluster connector, or a poor connection between cluster connector pin 10 and the PCB.

For reference the indicator lamp wiring is illustrated on pages A-47 (Pg. 60), A-103 (Pg. 116), A-106 (Pg. 119) and A-107 (Pg. 120) of the 1991 Wiring Manual.

That is sweet Rich, thanks!  I didn't know there was a PDF version available of the 1991 wiring book.  Now I won't have to worry about scanning mine!!
