GM2700 AM FM Radio Issue

Recently installed used radio. All works except when radio is on when key off,  radio is not on when key on. I could not use the OE power connector, so connected power wire to newer connector. When key on, have to turn radio off then on and works. This is the second radio since purchase and did not have this with the previous install. Kind of confusing but am still able to use radio.

Any ideas?

I'm confused about what you are saying/asking. Are you saying the radio does not work when the ignition switch is in the run or accessory position but works with the ignition switch off?

Ok. I'll try again. When engine on, radio is on, no issue. Turn key off, (the radio was playing) then restart, radio does not automatically play. If I turn radio power off then on radio plays fine. This is a strange issue for me cause I have never had one do this.

I've come to the conclusion that there are things 'too wonderful' to understand...

Are you cycling power, i.e. kill engine, then instantly restarting?

How old is the radio? Transistor or semi conductor?
