Dash panel repair?

(1/2) > >>

Callmebert:
Does anyone know of a dash repair panel for the radio area? The previous owner hacked the area up to install a radio. It’s really bad. Looks like they used a hammer and cold chisel. I was thinking of seeing if i could find a junk yard donor, cutting a piece out, then welding it in place.

Callmebert:
Btw, it is a ‘86 Scottsdale Swb.

Mr Diesel:
I think I welded in a patch piece of thin steel on my last one. Of course welding in a cab is full of fire danger since everything in there is combustible. A better solution might be to fashion a metal plate to fit and overlap the edges onto existing material and epoxy in place. Lowes has plenty of plain steel from which to choose.

mrghostwalker:
I ended up replacing a section of the dash with a section cut out of a parts-truck. It won't be noticeable if you are careful where you cut it.

You can always cut out a section from a 89-91 Suburban for more radio choices.
