This is my 81 K10 I built up this year. New 350, all new brakes, new interior, replaced ALL the rubber seals, gaskets, new tires. Had some minor rust fixed. I love it, I used to have a 86 c30 crew cab dually lowered, but sold it in 2011. I have always wanted a 4x4 square body and now I have one.

Did you make the cage or is it aftermarket? Do you have more pics of it or manufacturer name? I'm looking for building one similiat to that.
Mine is 86 K10, first and last pic is before lift.

I am trying to figure out what I want to do with this truck.  I originally needed a truck that I could beat up and not worry about damaging it.  Unfortunately, it's going the other way because I keep fixing the truck up.  I went with a third generation K10 because that's what I grew up with.  I remember sitting in the bed of my dads 1977 Chevy K10 as he carted us to school, lol.

I found this truck on Craigslist on October of 2012 for about $3000.  It's a 1974 Chevy K10 with a 350 engine, NP203 transfer case, and turbo 350 transmission.  The only thing I don't like about the truck is that it's an automatic.  I wish it were a manual, but heck, the fact that its a 1974 is great.  It qualifies for collectors plates and doesn't need any emissions testing!

There were a few things that needed to be addressed right away -- like a radio system and the front drive shaft.  The transmission had some slipping issues, but it worked enough that I could wait on those repairs.  This is what the truck look liked when I got it home:

The paint job looked good, but after about 1 month, it started to rust right through the paint.

So I ended up repainting it with green rustoleum paint.  I have no idea what I was thinking.  The end result was fugly.

I ended up pouring some cash into this truck.  I wanted to go back to flat black and took the truck to a more professional painter -- Maaco. :)  They sanded the truck down to metal and repainted it flat black.  The end result was awesome.  I also did many other fixes: Rebuilt transmission, rebuilt transfer case, locking front hubs, full time to part time 4 wheel drive conversion, new driver side and passenger side doors, a set of cherry bombs to replace the junky old mufflers, replaced the old grill with the original 1974 style grill, new mirrors, death proof hood decal, bed liner, hood brace to prevent the infamous hood kink issue, etc.

This is what the truck looks like now :

Man, I'm not even done.  There's more I want to do.  6" lift, larger tires, new front bumper and rear bumper, dual fuel tanks, new dash...
