1987 Silverado V10 from the frozen north

Well, work on the cab ended up being more extensive than anticipated. I brought it in for rockers/cab corners and as is expected I suppose with a MN truck, the floor under the drivers side was rusted out decently, including the cab support. So... a new floor on the drivers side went in, as well as re-=bracing the cab support, and etc.
Then, not knowing exactly how this all worked, I'm informed it's best to have the doors so you can weld the rockers to line up with the doors, so... I picked up a new driver door from a junkyard, and the passenger door was mudded (this is a driver resto not a museum piece as I believe I've said). Finally rockers and cab corners start getting addressed.

Once the rockers started going in, we also needed to match the gaps with good fenders, so... had to snag on a brand new second hand pair of front fenders. But... they weren't hanging right as it turns out the core/rad support was too rusty. Turned out to also be the core support mounts on the frame, so new mounts got welded on, brand new core support, and finally got fenders on it to line up rockers and door gaps. As long as we were in there, I got new inner fenders (old ones were totally rusted out) and battery tray. We also painted the frame by the motor as long as all the fenders were off.

So what began at the body shop as rockers/cab corners became new driver floor, new cab support, new core support, new core support mounts, new(used) fenders, new inner fenders, and random stuff like new door strikers, hinge pins, new tailgate, new tailgate handle/some hardware... It became a kinda brand new truck parts-wise without that being the plan just yet, but once we were in it, it just made sense to keep going. Finally, we got to paint. This is obviously a local/garage kind of job, and the body guy has been real cool about all of this and not going crazy with price. So after a basic spray (pre-buffing dust out) she finally is black again! Had to take the visor off for rust addressing and paint, so while we did that, I also had a new (used) windshield installed, and had a rear slider put in (since I dig those). It's coming along...

The truck finally got moved outside and saw its first daylight in quite a few months. Just in time for fall storms and branches falling, but luckily has thus far escaped harm. With expanded room to work, I finally got the floor a bit sorted, cleaned things out and put some butyl sound deadening under the carpet, and put the carpet back in. We also put the visor back on backed by some caulk around the screw holes in the roof. Got to address some chrome trim here and there, and a host of tiny things (new headlight adjusters etc since the old ones were so rusty/brittle they didn't adjust) or painting the metal headlight buckets. It should take a little to clean up all the loose ends, but I'm trying to get it home soon finally!
