I have not experienced any problems getting dups made. I go to a locksmith and they have always had blanks. To get the blank and cut the key they charge about $5.00.
macr0w:
My local Mazda dealership wanted $650.00 to cut and program 2 keys for my wife's Mazda 5.
Needless to say we found other options. :P
Shifty:
I used to cut keys in the 80's, at the parts store I worked at...the blanks cost less a dime apiece, and took me about 2 minutes to do...
Da67goatman:
Most insurance covers a key replacement a year. You might have to just send them the bill and ask for reimbursement. It's nice to actually get something for all that money you give them. I don't know why anyone would have only one key for a car, but so many are sold with just one.
