Temporary Fuel Tank/Setup
(1/1)
cwilson jr:
My 85 K10s driver's side under cab mounted tank leaks. I have no plans on doing anything with the truck at the moment, but do move it occasionally and wish not to dump fuel into it everytime I want to move it, AND have excess stream out.
Is there a setup with a small portable tank someone has used successfully before? mount/ placed location? Do I need an electric pump, or any switches ot anything?
I'm looking for the simplest method, WITHOUT screwing with the existing rotted tank.
JohnnyPopper:
So I assume you only have one tank, right?
You can secure a gas can in the bed, using a gas rated hose down to the steel tube at the tank that goes to the fuel pump. OR bring the rubber tubing to the fuel pump inlet, pry 10' of hose.
Your challenge will be adapting the hose to the gas can. Plastic-drill a hose in the tank opening sealer disc. Gas resistant sealer, or just drill it undersize to create seal.
Don't forget a tiny breather hole.
VileZambonie:
New tank, straps, sending unit is the right way to do it. Otherwise the only safe method is to drop a fuel cell in the bed as a temporary solution.
