Needing GM Steering Pump model for recent conversion from manual steerin

(1/1)

Mickey Swaggerty:
I recently converted my 77 6 cylinder 77 C10 over to power steering. The pump I have isn't working while at a dead stop, or turning while driving below 10 mph. I am sure it is the pump. Can anyone recommend a Saginaw style pump model that will work at very low speed. It has to be a Saginaw style pump in order to work with the specific pump brackets that fits on an inline 6. All suggestions are appreciated.

JohnnyPopper:
A Saginaw pump in good shape should work all the time regardless of speed. Change it out with the same and it should take care of the problem.

One question: do you have the correct size pulleys? Not that I have seen a significant difference through the years. If the crankshaft pulley is too small it could be the problem too.
