Finished painting the mural! Rough - Hands not as steady as they once was. Have to put on the pin stripes and clear coat it now.

I completed my tailgate. Sprayed the clear coat with a new spray gun. Was not used to it and got a couple spots that did not level out (a run). Will have to sand them out and buff. Will spray another coat of clear on the area if needed after sanding and finishing. Over all the clear is of high quality material (high solids) and looks good.

I am looking forward to being a 100% completed! I have the top just above the cross and the other area taped off. There is Linex on the other side and top edge, like my bed.

Took some pictures of the Jams (sides) and bottom of the tailgate as well. Was hard to work to clean the difficult spots and crevices and paint. I kept with the paint scheme through the sides.

Trying to hang my Tailgate. I installed the handle, latches, and trunnion. Been painting body bolts/screws and drying time for them is delaying me a bit.

I thought at first I would paint the tailgate without removing the handle because a couple people indicated it was a hassle to deal with. However, I found no difficulty or problems with removing the handle and latches and they went back on without a hitch. Painting should be done with all of it removed.

Was hoping to mount the tailgate today. The paint just did not dry fast enough. I had to paint and clear the truck side trunnion and latch. Also been painting screws. Had to redo some because I painted the wrong ones (wrong size) earlier.

Hope to get the tailgate mounted tomorrow, if not the next day it should be done.

Have you looked at TD Trunnion design?

No, Have not heard of it. Just using the OEM original parts that came with the truck. Are they any better? I did completed the bed side trunnion, bumpers, and latch. I than put some moly grease on the trunnions. and installed the tailgate today.

A little rougher by yourself! However, I figured out a way that turned out to be not that difficult. Still need to finish buffing and polishing the tailgate yet. I started on it before I hung it.

PS: I did search and looked at them online. They appear to be of good quality and is something to look at later when I have completed the rest of what is needed. Thanks for the I about the TD Trunnion design product.

Attaching a few more pics of my truck. Just need to install the mirror, rear bumper, tail lights, and interior door panels to complete it. My truck is a little dirty from sitting so long.

Was looking at the pic and I will probably paint the bowtie on the front grill to match my truck. Guess that is the stock standard color.

Great progress man, really shows attention to detail!

I've only seen bowties yellow or blue.

Please post a burnout pic or video when she hits the road!!!

Thanks Shifty and JP! I enjoy what I have learned from everyone else. I plan to one day give my truck to my grandson, no one knows that but me right now and the forum!

Do you like my cross? I airbrushed the blue and stars and hand painted the red and white stripes. I bought small cans of urethane paint from the local supplier.

Would be wonderful if one day all on the forum could get together.
