Frame Shorting (Long to Short) ?

(1/3) > >>

Chevynut73:
Got a '73 C10 long bed and have seen some folks do the frame cut bolt/weld back together to make it a short bed.
Found on the Brothers Truck Parts site a kit to help with this.

Please share any experience or ideas on this.

Thanks

Never done it, but I'm in for pics!  :D

Several posts about this http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/lwb_to_swb.htm but some fair warning:

1) are you a good welder?

2) do you have a good welder?

If not do not even think about doing this yourself.  I prefer the offset staggered cuts as opposed to a straight cut. To me it provides a better spread across the grain rather than a single point wich could stress crack. I did a write up on it but it got photobucket bombed and all of the images were lost.

Yes, my neighbor is a very good welder.

And the Truck has long been retired - no more working her with heavy loads  :)

Thanks
