How to swap a 1972 Buick 350 into a 1976 Chevy C10!
« on: October 11, 2020, 01:30:36 PM »
Well I no longer need this information but I don't know how to delete this post.
I have a 1976 C10 with a 250 Inline six and I want to swap in a v8. I found one to rebuild on Facebook marketplace not too far from me for $150. The only problem is that it's a 1972 Buick 350. What problems am I looking at for swapping this into my C10? Currently I have 3 speed saginaw manual transmission and a new clutch but I eventually want to swap in a th350 or something solid with overdrive.

Would the Buick 350 bolt up to my trans or a th350?

Do I need new engine mounts?

Any other problematic issues I need to think about?

Why do feel you no longer need this post?

i totally dig uncommon swaps, but this sounds like this is your first swap?  In that case, it would probably be easiest to stick with chevy as it's basically a straightforward bolt-in affair.   Note that chevy 350, pontiac 350, buick 350, olds 350 and if cadillac had a 350 are all DIFFERENT engines even though they are all 350's.

At some point GM put chevy v8's in most of its models, but I don't think it goes back as far as '72. The Buick bolt pattern is probably different, so  verify that prior to making a commitment. Chevy v8 are fairly common to find, look for a truck that is in a 'lost interest' state. If it runs, and is in decent, buy it. You'll have all the parts you need.
