Are the wheel base's the same? Long Wheel Base vs Short Wheel Base.

Obviously if one is a short bed and the other is long bed you will have to do some extra work.

If it's close and you're not sure, measure from the front spindle to the rear axle center on the 2x

and the center of the hubs to the rear axle on the 4x. Do they match?

Has anyone converted a 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive.  I have a 73 gmc 2 wheel drive long bed and just bought a 80 k10 longbed  4x4. I want to swap the 73 body on to the 80 frame....

body swap will be the easiest/best option. the one thing you have to worry about is cutting a hole in the floorboard to make room for the transfer case shifter and either swapping center humps to the transfercase or install a 3" body lift

In some years (like my '75) the 4WD hump in the floor is a separate bolt-in piece, but I think that at some point they just modified the cab floor itself to clear the transfer case. You can probably cut a hole in the floor of the '80 and just transfer the hump section over from the 4WD truck.
