Title: Rear End ?'s

I need a new rear end for my 85 chevy half ton. Its a 4x4 with 3.73 gears. I was wondering what year trucks (blazers, suburbans) I can get a rear end out of and bolt it right in???

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that any rear axle from a 1/2 or 3/4 ton from 73 on up to 91 or so will fit.

I dunno about the 3/4-tons, I thought they had the same spring setup as the 1-tons, which is about 3" narrow... But for $100 any ironworks shop can move your perches and/or shock mounts.

1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks have the same spring perch locations. 1 tons are narrower to accomdate dual rears.

What about 1-tons without the dually rear? I was under the impression the single-wheel and dual-wheel 1-tons had different sized (width-wise) rearends.

Nope. The reason that single and dual rear wheel 1 tons use the same spring perch locations is that the frames on all 1 tons are the same. More specifically, 1 tons all utilize the same rear spring hangers, which are different than those used on 1/2 and 3/4 tons.
