plannin big project
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:23:43 PM »
Hi there im starting to gather ideas for my big project. iv got the original big block for my 78 1/2 ton 2wd and i plan on putting it back in fully rebuilt with an edelbrock multipoint fuel injection setup. I also want to replace the turbo 350 trans with a 4l80E tranny, I want to change the 3.08 gears for 3.73 also. I want the 4l80 because I want to have roughly 550HP and i dont think a 700R4 would hold up for to long. if any buddy has any ideas or comments please let me know, i am just startin to think about the options.

I just installed a Baumann transmission controller for my 4L60. I just drove it last night for the first time. There is still some "getting used to the program", but at this point, it seems to be a nice product. I would be carefull about the 3.73's, unless you have pretty big tires (say 28" or bigger) 3.40 would most likely be enough. My advice would be...Get the engine/transmission in there & drive it a bit, then decide on rear gears. Lorne
